We Will Be Okay

I wrote “We Will Be Okay” in the beginning of the pandemic and lockdown. I wrote it for the world, this is a matter that has affected all of us. Who would’ve thought that we would have a pandemic in our lifetime?!

When the pandemic hit, I think one of the hardest things for many people was to not be able to meet up with family and friends. Some of us were totally alone, some of us have not been able to see our family for over two years, children were not able to go to school or see their friends, which is such an important thing in childhood and growing up–the list goes on.

With this song, I wanted to give hope and to make us aware that we can still stay together in our hearts and minds and that we will get through it together. The song is in a major key (for the sound of hope), but I ended it on a minor chord to honor and remember everyone who lost the fight against Covid.

I hope to touch many hearts and souls with this song.

I hope it will bring comfort, hope and love. ❤️

As this song is for all of us, I thought it would be a wonderful idea to involve children. I decided to invite my younger students to sing on it, both singing and piano students, and also some friends' children. I sent out the chorus to 35 people, three of whom are from Sweden, and everyone recorded their parts remotely, most of them on their phones, and then sent it back to me. They can be heard on the second and third chorus.

It took a while to get the chorus together with everyone and I am grateful to my producer (and second half of SandraKota) Dakota Lee Martinez, who helped me to make this a reality. He did an amazing job helping me to edit and mix the song.
